Here I'll put a brief summary or overview of this article.

This article is about the new rave in video games.SKATEBOARDING GAMES!

It all started out with a lonely little game called Street Sk8er.This game got bad reviews, but I loved it. With its limited tricks system, it was never left on shelves for less than a minute. But then came along Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. This game swept the nation with its unique trick and combo system. With popular skaters this game was #1 for quite a while. Then along came Thrasher:Skate and Destroy.A spinoff of the popular magazine, Thrasher, this game shows it all in the title.Skate and destroy or BE destroyed. The trick system was a little rusty, but that didn't stop gamers from flocking around it until the next "new and cool" game.

Actually what it really started out with was a game named "Top Skater" which was in the Arcade. You stepped on the skateboard which was on a small platform. Then you held on to the bars on either side.To do a trick, you press your foot down on the back of the board(or front of the board) to do a trick. The game didn't let you decide what tricks you did, but it is still a favorite in many Arcades.

Then THPS moved on to other systems. Nintendo 64,Gameboy,...what next? I have no idea what the 64 version is like, but I'll get my friend to Review it because he has the game.THPS for Gameboy wasn't all that great(In my opinion). If you pressed A+DOWN it would do a trick. A+LEFT was the same as A+DOWN, and A+RIGHT was the same trick as A+UP. Either that or I really stunk and just kept doing the same tricks.

Now, Activision and Neversoft plan to release Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2.From the demo that I have, the game seems to be a 1080(yes, its possible),720 Method, and a few Backflips better than the original. With its new "Edit Park" Mode,"Create-a-Skater" Mode, and new skating spots like Philadelphia,PA, THPS2 should be as popular as the original.

That's it for this time.Look in the Archives section for codes for some of the games I mentioned. Also, check out the Reviews for rednight616's review for THPS64.

Next time I update I'll try to include more Dreamcast games.(Sorry,Sega!) Check my site out frequently for updates.
